This Saturday 16 May marks Stage 1 of Queensland’s roadmap to easing restrictions allowing restaurants, pubs, clubs and cafes to open up to a maximum of 10 patrons at a time. And while many will be excited at prospect of digging into that pub-parmy and chips we’ve been hanging for since restrictions began, will it be the same without the accompanying vibes and entertainment of live music?
Delivered Live is a free weekly live streaming event featuring and supporting Australian artists, by keeping the live music culture alive and available from your living room. “It’s a tonic or balm for those missing the live gig experience” says the show’s host Henry Wagons, “giving people that taste of what they’re lacking”.
While many musical artists have been entertaining fans by sharing performances from their homes, Delivered Live creates a real venue environment, complete with stage, lights and professional visual sonic productions – all custom built and marked to meet safe social distancing standards. Viewers also have the option to purchase tickets to the otherwise free event, with proceeds supporting not only the artists on the show, but also the local live music crew and venues who’s income has come to a grinding halt during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Henry Wagons’ says he’s been astonished, not only by the “maestro musicians” lining up to perform on the show, but by the reactions from viewers over the last 6 weeks. “One guy commented saying he found himself moved to applaud after the sets, despite being alone in his lounge room”. This week sees world-class acts like Emma Donovan and The Putbacks, Alex Gow (Oh Mercy) and Benny Walker, along with comedy performances by Tom Ballard and weekly regular Sami Shani, all ready and raring for the digital doors of episode 7 to open at 7:30pm this Saturday. Each episode streams live every Saturday, and replays only once the next day, after that it’s gone. So make sure you tune in to recapture that connection to the Australian live music culture we’ve all been missing these past few months.
Delivered Live kicks off Saturday May 16, 7:30pm at DeliveredLive.com.au The event is free, but you are encouraged to buy a virtual ticket or merch to help support the creative artists.
