The role of the #warmup DJ is an oft repeated and heated topic around fazebook. The general consensus however is their significance: the support DJs make or break the night and often, deserves far more credit than the actual headliner. Careful programming and song selection while reading the room is #paramount. It’s a trial to face an empty room and watch it fill with people who haven’t necessarily come to seem them – a task that requires great maturity and humility. For, unfortunately, the role of the wam up DJ is undervalued, underestimated and undermined – by the very DJs, #ironically, who are meant to be ‘the warm up DJ’. Promoters carefully select warm up DJs because they know how to build the room; to seduce, to heat things up. The warm up DJ has a #task of gentle persuasion minus earth shattering consequences.
