The family who brought us the yoga clothes and running gear for sweaty workouts of lululemon now bring luxury apparel brand Kit & Ace to Queensland as the newest edition to the James Street fashion family. Shannon and JJ Wilson of Kit & Ace bring a level of comfort and wearability to daywear previously only known in gym clothes. This is a company championing the urban professional, entrepreneur and creative in the most authentic way.

JJ and Shannon initially created the blueprint for Kit & Ace after spending years dressed in comfy gym clothes while travelling. As the son and wife of lululemon founder, JJ and Shannon know what it takes to spearhead the fashion industry. While classic lululemon garments provide supreme wearability, the duo searched for the same feeling and essence in clothing but with an aesthetic more ‘sophisticate-casual’ than ‘I-just-came-from-Pilates’. When they couldn’t find it, they created it: clothing so slick there’s no limit on where and how to wear it. Shannon’s institutional knowledge and experience in product design is teamed with JJ’s insights into fashion and retail, culminating into the Kit & Ace vision. Their plan is to deliver innovative products that provide comfort and ease of use to the wearer, while still offering the style and quality of the luxury brands we all love.

Breathable, durable and simply beautiful, Kit & Ace’s Technical Cashmere ™ is sourced ethically from Mongolian goats. In fact, it’s a two per standard garment. The goats are given stylish haircuts in spring to rid them of excess weight for the summer. Not only is it that great feel in stylish new threads, it’s also knowing that goats from where the raw material came from are just as comfortable too. In an industry able to sacrifice quality for profits, it’s inspiring to find an authentic brand with a core focus on superlative pieces of ethically-sourced wearable clothing. As a Canadian company on a worldwide expansion journey, Kit & Ace have launched with a massive impact across Melbourne and Bondi Junction already. When James Street launches their largest Australian store to date, it will be exciting to see how the brand grows and becomes part of the fabric of our urban lifestyle. And given it’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it’s only timely this lux fashion label launches amongst the glitz and glamour of Brisbane’ s greatest fashion attention-seeker – which you can read all about in Laura Stead-Churchill’s article here.
