When we heard that Jamie’s Italian was combining our two favourite things, it was impossible not to put our summer bodies on hold for a night and get ourselves some Pasta & Prosecco for $15 (and maybe a few other goodies along the way).

Warming up our stomachs before the main meals was an absolute necessity and their small plates menu is no joke. Prying our eyes away from the Ultimate Garlic Bread and Margherita Arancini, we settled on the World’s Best Olives on Ice to start. Living up to their names, we have to admit… they were some goddam good olives.

After devouring them in what seemed under a minute, we next ordered the Caprese Salad and Crispy Squid. Fresh and absolutely delightful, the Caprese Salad included heritage tomatoes, basilreal buffalo-milk bocconcini that were beautifully soft and just salty enough. Adding a crunch to our entree was the Crispy Squid with rocket, lemon & aioli which served as our introduction to the fresh seafood Jamie's use. Sustainably caught and battered, the bite-sized pieces of squid were tender and very inviting to have another one.

On the pasta menu for the special, there were 5 different options to choose from: the Tagliatelle Bolognese, Carbonara, Prawn Linguine, Truffle Tagliatelle and Spicy Sausage Pappardelle. As one of the most popular pasta dishes across Australia, it was decided to pair our glass of Prosecco with their Famous Prawn Linguine. The pasta, made fresh and in-house daily, is served with garlicky prawns, tomatoes, fennel, saffron, fresh chilli & rocket. With no fear of judgement on our love of cheese, we loaded up on a very (VERY) generous serving of freshly grated parmesan.

The sauce base alone takes hours to make which is demonstrated in its delectable and refreshing flavour including just the right kick of chilli. With a perfect pasta to sauce ratio, the proportion of the meal leaves you satiated without feeling over-full.

Next came dessert. After ‘umming’ and ‘ahhing’ for quite some time, our waitress suggested the Epic Brownie and Marsala Tiramisu and all we can say is 'WOW'. The Epic Brownie was accompanied with proper chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream & caramelised amaretti popcorn. Each bite was even more delicious than the next with the Brownie having a crunchy outside with a soft middle.

Setting aside the urge to gobble down the brownie in two spoonful’s, we set to work on the Marsala Tiramisu which was packed with classic Italian flavours: Marsala wine, chocolate shavings & orange zest. All of the desserts are made in-house aside from the ice-cream which is made especially for Jamie’s Italian by Serendipity in Sydney.

Sitting back with bellies a little bigger than what we came in with, we were completely satisfied from head to toe. Saying our farewells, we were given a very warm arrivederci from all the staff.
