Valley Fiesta returns on August 23 and 24 with an epic local lineup and change-in-face, taking The Valley from its conventional gritty to universal glorious. Doing their bit to mould the new face of Fortitude Valley, Valley Fiesta has released an incredible line-up of artists and events that mark the beginning of a new era in Valley lifestyle.

The two day street festival will be a dynamic and eclectic gathering of live music, DJs, interactive entertainment, street culture and arts from the heart of Fortitude Valley. Featuring market stalls, the Valley Swap Shoppe, Red Bull Music Market, pop up short film festival Future Shorts Australia and a Rock Karaoke Bar, local businesses, cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs will be onboard for the ultimate in urban carnival atmosphere. Spread over a variety of outdoor stages and several surrounding venues, Valley Fiesta is an all ages event designed to celebrate our multicultural community and diversity.

CULINARY ARTS

Chinatown Chow Down
Honouring the culinary and cultural arts of Chinatown, seeing local restaurants present a banquet fit for an emperor and interactive entertainment turning Chinatown Mall into an Asian stage of roving entertainment. Pole walking lion dancers, kung-fu displays, stilt walking geisha girls and roaming robots will keep things interesting during the day, while the outdoor Karaoke Bar will keep Chinatown rocking at night.

FASHION


The Valley Swap Shoppe sees Undress Runways jump onboard with Valley Fiesta for a mammoth pop up fashion exchange event. Submit five pieces of fashion you don’t wear anymore, and swap them for something from the closets of your fellow fashionistas – all in the name of fashion, fun and sustainability.

STREET CULTURE


Red Bull Crate Diggers & Music Market

Get record rummaging with this retro pop up music market where electronic, hip hop and rock CDs and records will be a music collectors wet dream. The talents of local graff artists will be in the Brunswick Street Mall spotlight for the ultimate celebration of street art.


Sunday As One

The Valley’s LBTGI community brings the fun and the fabulous to Chinatown Mall for music, dance and theatrical performances.


MYCITYLIFE presents Future Shorts Film Festival

Australia’s first global pop-up short film festival sees a showcase of the most exciting short films from around the world presented right here in the heart of The Valley. And MYCITYLIFE will see arty film types taking an innovative journey into short films that featured in International Films Festivals in Cannes, Chicago, Toronto and beyond.

Queensland Music Awards Showcase

The best in QMusic’s Queensland Music Award talent will see the spotlight turned on our award-winning homegrown heroes. Expect exclusive performances from such luminaries as Jeremy Neale, Mosman Alder, MKO, Georgia Potter and Band of Frequencies.

The Lineup
Dan Sultan headlines Valley Fiesta in 2014, brining smouldering musicianship to the fresh-faced Brunswick Street hotspot. He shares his headline responsibilities with Aussie hip hop sensation Allday, honorary South Australian computer whizkid turned EDM genius Motez, and Unearthed Artist of the Year 2013 Remi, beneficiary of a tongue in cheek style and potentially the coolest hair in Australia. Supporting AV DJ Sampology will unleash his usual unpredictably groundbreaking performance, while princes of nu-soul electro-pop outfit Safia provides a barrage of their much-loved tracks. Other notable acts include astral producer Basenji, the energetic MC of pulverant words and charisma, local MC Dr Rhythm, and Hollywood lookalike Brisbane funk provider Young Franco.
