Since 1896, State Library Queensland has been a vital ideas and knowledge bank for the Sunshine State as the physical and virtual centre for sharing philosophy, exchanging ideas, encouraging collaboration, and creating learning and education opportunities. From its post in the cultural precinct of South Bank, SLQ is a space for intellectual freedom, and remains the mainstay of the commonwealth, the curator of Queensland history, while supporting the ethos that knowledge is power and education fundamental to a fulfilled and enriched lifestyle. SLQ is a centre where learning is fun, and houses a variety of entertaining activities, from music performances to cinema events, networking meetups, workshops, seminars, government discussions, topic investigations, historical celebrations and the home to the annual Brisbane Writers Festival.
