There are two types of travellers: people who toss a toothbrush into their bag and hope for the best, and people with a very specific in-flight beauty routine designed to outsmart the dehydrating chaos of air travel.
I am, predictably, the latter.
Planes are basically flying skin vacuums. Cabin air is famously dry, sleep is questionable, and by the time you land your skin, hair and general vibe can feel… a little forgotten by hydration.
So after years of long-haul flights (and some truly confronting airport bathroom reflections), I’ve developed a very specific travel beauty lineup. These are the products I genuinely never fly without — from packing my suitcase to the final “make myself look alive again” moment before landing.
1. MOR Boutique Sardinia Travel Case

Every travel beauty routine starts with the bag that carries it all.
The MOR Boutique Sardinia Travel Case lives permanently in my suitcase because it fits so much without turning into a chaotic product graveyard. Made from water-repelling textured vegan leather, it has padded sides to protect your beauty stash and a beautifully organised interior with two zip compartments and ten elasticised pouches.
There are also two outer side pouches and an exterior zip pocket for easy-access bits, plus a built-in hook so you can hang it in hotel bathrooms (elite behaviour). It keeps everything upright, organised and easy to find instead of floating around your suitcase in a beauty-product jumble.
2. Silk the Label Essential Hair Ties

The very first thing I do once I sit down on a plane? Put my hair up immediately. But not with a regular elastic, because those are basically tiny hair saboteurs.
I always pack the Silk the Label Essential Hair Ties, which are crafted from 6A mulberry silk and designed to reduce breakage, prevent creases and hold your hair without pulling. Because silk creates less friction, they glide over strands rather than snagging them, helping protect against split ends, dents and damage.
They’re gentle but secure enough to wear for hours (or sleep in), which is exactly what you want on a long-haul flight. And the best part: when you take your hair down, you don’t have that aggressive ponytail dent.
3. Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water

Next comes a quick, gentle cleanse. I never do a full foaming face wash before a long flight because it can strip the skin barrier — not ideal when you’re about to sit in extremely dry cabin air for hours.
Instead I use Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water, the original micellar water and a cult classic for very good reason. A few swipes over the face removes makeup, impurities and pollution without irritating the skin or disrupting its natural balance. It’s incredibly gentle, which is why it’s such a favourite among makeup artists and dermatologists, and it leaves skin feeling clean, soothed and comfortable rather than tight or dry. It’s the perfect low-effort way to reset your skin before starting your in-flight hydration routine.
4. Go-To Transformazing Sheet Mask

Yes, I am one of those people who wears a sheet mask on a plane.
And I will continue to be, because it works.
The Go-To Transformazing Sheet Mask is packed with glow-boosting ingredients like kakadu plum, finger lime and Tasmanian pepper leaf, plus niacinamide for brightening and hydration. It also features hyadisine to help the skin retain moisture and appear noticeably plumper.
In just 10 minutes, skin looks brighter, juicier and far less lined — which is exactly what you want when you’re trapped inside a flying dehydration chamber.
Do you look a bit like a spooky ghost while wearing it? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes.
5. Alpha-H Multi Peptide Revitalise Serum

Once the mask comes off, I go straight in with Alpha-H Multi Peptide Revitalise Serum.
This formula is packed with clinically tested peptides, growth factors and amino acids that work together to target fine lines and support overall skin longevity. On first application, skin looks instantly more hydrated and plumped, while longer term it helps support firmness and skin integrity.
It’s lightweight, soothing and layers beautifully, which makes it ideal mid-flight when your skin needs serious hydration but nothing heavy.
6. Alpha-H Peptide Lip Perfector
Lips are usually the first casualty of long-haul flights, which is why this brand spanking new product has never left my handbag since it landed on my desk
The Alpha-H Peptide Lip Perfector uses tripeptide-1 and sodium hyaluronate to hydrate and plump the lips while smoothing the appearance of fine lines. Plant-based lanolin deeply conditions while the peppermint infusion gives a subtle refreshing tingle. The result is lips that feel softer, smoother and properly hydrated instead of dry and flaky halfway through the flight.
7. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Nighttime Miracle Moisturiser

Hydrating your skin on a plane is only half the job. The real trick is sealing that hydration in. That’s where Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Nighttime Miracle Moisturizer comes in.
Building on the iconic Eight Hour Cream formula, this moisturiser delivers intense hydration while helping lock moisture into the skin barrier so the dry cabin air can’t steal it all back. It’s rich enough to protect the skin but still lightweight enough to sit comfortably during a long flight. Think of it as the protective layer that keeps your skin from turning into parchment at 35,000 feet.
8. Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

About an hour before landing, I begin what I call the revival phase. First up: hair.
The Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo is a talc-free formula that absorbs oil and refreshes hair so it looks freshly washed instead of “slept on inside a pressurised cabin”. Applying it an hour before landing gives it time to do its job and soak up those hair oils.
Powered by natural rice starch to absorb dirt and oil, and sea buckthorn (a nutrient-rich superfruit packed with vitamin C, vitamin A and omega-7), it restores volume, reduces odour and gives hair its bounce back. Essentially: hair with actual life in it again.
9. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

If I had to pick one makeup product to fake being awake, it would be blush.
The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is wildly pigmented — one tiny dot is plenty — and blends seamlessly for a natural-looking flush that lasts up to 12 hours.
The featherlight formula uses pure colour pigments in a transparent base, which means it delivers beautiful colour payoff while still feeling breathable and skin-like. Translation: instant life back in your face.
10. Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara

And finally, the second half of the “I swear I slept” illusion: mascara. If I could only pack two makeup products to look refreshed after a flight, it would be blush and Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara.
It lengthens, separates and adds serious volume to lashes, instantly making eyes look brighter and more awake. I get compliments every time I wear it — which is impressive considering it’s usually applied in an airport bathroom with extremely questionable lighting.
And that’s the full routine: pack smart, hydrate aggressively and revive strategically before landing. Do I step off the plane looking like I’ve just spent 12 hours in a spa? Sadly, no. But I do look awake, glowy and significantly less travel-wrecked, which honestly feels like a very solid beauty win.
