This spring, Brisbane audiences will be swept into a dreamscape where the circus meets the poetic, as Cirque du Soleil’s celebrated production Corteo arrives at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre from 18 September.
At its heart, Corteo tells the whimsical story of a clown who imagines his own funeral unfolding not as a sombre farewell but as a joyous celebration. Friends, acrobats, angels, and musicians gather in a carnival-like procession filled with laughter, music, and breathtaking feats, creating a spectacle that honours life itself. The result is said to be a touching exploration of friendship and humanity told through the wonder of the circus.

For the Brisbane season, the production delivers a world-first staging twist. The stage is placed at the very centre of the arena, dividing the audience into two halves. As spectators watch the action unfold, they’ll also see the faces of fellow theatregoers opposite them, creating a rare performer’s-eye view and a sense of shared connection unique to this show.
The scale of Corteo is nothing short of astonishing. Fifty-three artists from around the world bring Mauro’s dream to life through sixteen unforgettable acts, from dazzling aerial acrobatics to moments of levity and tenderness. The story is carried by thirty-one original songs performed live, and the spectacle is heightened by more than 175 costumes, each hand-crafted to evoke a world suspended between heaven and earth.

Brisbane audiences will have ten days to step into this whimsical universe, with performances running from Thursday, 18 September through Sunday, 28 September 2025. Due to popular demand, extra shows have been added across the final weekend, giving Queenslanders more chances to experience the magic.
Having enchanted more than 12 million people across 30 countries, Corteo has become one of Cirque du Soleil’s most beloved productions. Now, Brisbane is next in line to be captivated by this fusion of artistry, humour, and heart.
