If Brisbane needed an excuse to lean all the way into a long weekend, this might be it. Eat Street Northshore is turning Easter into a full-blown, neon-lit, flavour-packed celebration—EATster—stretching across three nights by the river, where the air smells like grilled everything and sugar dust hangs somewhere between the fairy lights.

You arrive just before sunset and the place is already humming. Shipping containers glow, music spills from every corner, and there’s that familiar sense that you’ll come for a quick wander and stay far longer than planned. More than 60 micro restaurants are in full swing, each one competing for your attention with something sizzling, stacked, or dusted in icing sugar. It’s the kind of place where dinner turns into dessert, which turns into “just one more thing,” and nobody’s rushing you out.

Good Friday: Oysters, open air, and a little indulgence

Good Friday sets the tone with a little indulgence dialled up. There’s a chance to win a private oyster experience—freshly shucked right in front of you—which feels about as far from supermarket chocolate eggs as you can get. It’s intimate, a bit decadent, and perfectly suited to a night that already leans into treating yourself.

Saturday: Create your own dream dessert

Saturday shifts gears into something more playful. The DIY Dessert Competition invites you to build the kind of sweet creation you’d normally only dream up and then abandon halfway through. Here, you can go all in—layers, toppings, textures, the works—and actually walk away with bragging rights if your masterpiece hits the mark.

Sunday: The great Easter hunt takes over

By Sunday, things reach peak Easter energy. The Easter Egg Hunt sprawls across the entire venue, with prizes tucked into corners and hidden in plain sight. It’s less about quietly searching and more about the buzz—people darting between stalls, music pulsing from the stages, and the mainstage drawing a crowd as the hunt unfolds into something closer to a spectacle.

All weekend, the soundtrack doesn’t let up. Four live music stages keep things moving, whether you’re drifting past with a drink in hand or settling in for a set. The riverside bars are doing their part too, mixing up Easter-themed cocktails that feel just right as the evening cools and the lights reflect off the water.

There’s a rhythm to it all. You snack, you wander, you stop for a band, you double back for something you spotted earlier. It’s busy without feeling chaotic, festive without tipping into over-the-top, and there’s always something happening just around the corner.

By the time you leave, you’ve probably lost track of how many things you’ve tried and how long you’ve been there. And if that’s not the sign of a long weekend well done, we don’t know what is.
