Get out your leather jackets, and fluff up those poodle skirts because Grease is the word at QPAC from January 2025.

Grease is back, in an all-new multi-million dollar production, and it promises to be slicker, sexier, and more electrifying than ever before. In fact, with such wide appeal across generations, we wouldn’t be surprised if there are more than a few tickets to Grease under the tree this holiday season (hint, hint).

We spoke to Bobby Fox—who plays the legendary Vince Fontaine—about his career, all things T-Birds and Pink Ladies, and why Grease is such an iconic show that Brissie audiences shouldn’t miss.

What do you personally love most about Grease

The music in Grease is some of the best ever written for a musical production! I mean non-stop-bangers. Period. These songs should and will be part of every generation forever. FOR-EVER! Answering these questions is getting me fired up!

How are you approaching an iconic role like Vince Fontaine?

I want to explore both the ON/OFF AIR Vince. I want to have as much fun with him as possible and see where I can take the role and personality. I’m also gonna rock out with his songs. BORN TO HANDJIVE BABY! What a classic.

What’s your favourite song in Grease and why?

I love There are Worse Things I Could Do by Rizzo. So introspective and heartbreaking. But just between you and me, I’ve been known to go crazy to the Grease MegaMix back in the day when it popped up at a party or two.

You’ve played some amazing roles in your career so far, is there a bucket list role you’d like to play?

I have been so fortunate throughout my career. I had the joy/challenge of playing Don Lockwood in Singing In The Rain, originally made famous by the iconic Gene Kelly a couple years ago. Playing at QPAC was also an incredible experience. I don’t have any specific roles as such. I just want to continue to explore my range as an actor/performer and to be happy in my own skin. Everything else will fall into place then.

How do you prepare yoursel on a show day?

I love the company warmup on stage before the show. I find I prioritise my flexibility more when I’m in a show. It’s fantastic to be with the whole cast and connect—even if it’s just subconsciously—before the show kicks off.

I also do a vocal warm up in my dressing room for about 30 mins before physical warm up at the hour call. From there I like to run lines super quick before I get on stage to find my character’s voice and placement and then show time!

Why should Brissie audiences come to see Grease?

Grease is a show that needs to be seen and re-seen by every generation for the rest of time. It’s a direct connection to how joyous and timelessly cool musical theatre can be. It’s the reason why everyone jumps up like lunatics at parties when the Mega Mix comes on. You will not find a better night out with your family and friends ever. EVER. See you there x
