Donna Chang and Boom Boom Room’s drool-worthy new winter menus
As the temperature drops, Brisbane’s culinary scene is heating up at two of the city’s most iconic dining spots. Donna Chang and the Boom Boom Room are excited to unveil their sizzling new winter menus, expertly crafted by Head Chef Lyndon Tyres.
First up, dive into a showcase of seafood at Donna Chang. Their spotlight is on live tank delicacies, promising a sea of flavours to warm you up this winter. For a limited time, indulge in the finest Australian Tiger Abalone. Choose from two irresistible preparations: steamed with oyster sauce and fried garlic, or tossed in noodle soup with choi sum and garlic oil.
Next, slip beneath the streets to Boom Boom Room for the season’s ultimate comfort food: Ramen, but make it upscale and unforgettable.
This isn’t just any bowl of ramen; it’s a rich, hearty broth brimming with tender char shu, succulent grilled King prawn, and a perfectly soft egg, delivering a luxurious twist on a classic favourite. Imagine a deeply flavorful broth, slow-cooked to perfection, with tender slices of char shu pork, a juicy, charred King prawn, and a silky soft egg that oozes umami – it’s ramen reimagined. The perfect winter warmer that blends comfort with elegance!
Craving more? Treat yourself to a variety of new sushi, sides, and small plates, perfect for sharing…or not (we won’t judge). Start with the Seafood Ceviche, a refreshing mix of crushed edamame, squid ink, and tapioca chips. Then, savour the crunch and creaminess of the Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll. And don’t miss the Tasmanian Rock Lobster Tempura, served with seasonal vegetables, lemon, and tentsuyu.
Whether you’re craving the refined elegance of a Donna dining experience or the lively flavours of an izakaya feast at the Boom Boom Room, these culinary delights are more than just a meal—they’re vibrant celebrations of seasonal flavours.

Bacchus restaurant’s winter menu set to warm hearts and palates
It’s just hit winter and there are eight dishes from Bacchus that Brisbane foodies should go and explore.
Chef Manuele Erriu has created a menu that is in line with the season and sure to become firm favourites with patrons. Leading the Winter flavour-fest is Minestrone with Shiitake Broth. It’s a soup with an ancient history that Chef Manu says is close to his heart.
A standout from last year’s Winter menu, the Wagyu Tongue returns, and this time Chef Manu has created a dish that resembles the colours of autumn in the forest. “All vegetables are marinated in different types of vinegar, and the colours are almost the same as Autumn leaves, plus we have added a parsley foam as moss, with the Tongue representing the bark of the trees! I hope diners love it as much as we do!”
The Champagne Lobster with Jerusalem artichoke and Beurre Blanc is another seasonal star this winter. There’s also risotto with saffron, bone marrow and jus—this could be THE dish of Winter! Chef Manu said this dish also has a long history across Europe.
The Kingfish dish sees Chef Manu add rapini, capsicum, parsley, olives and potatoes for a modern reflection of another famed Italian Winter dish. Rounding out the Winter’s Eight at Bacchus is the braised Wagyu cappelletti, the cobia with celery, dashi, cucumber and hongarebushi and from the grill, the classic eye fillet with burnt leek, rapini, hazelnut and red wine jus.
