If your idea of a perfect Saturday afternoon involves hopping between steaming baskets of dumplings, crispy skewers fresh off the grill and cups of bubble tea the size of your head, clear your calendar. Brisbane’s favourite food crawl is back, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest one yet.
The Sunnybank Food Trail returns on Saturday 27 June, transforming Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park into a sprawling self-guided feast packed with flavour, colour and some very strategic snack decisions.

Now celebrating its 12th year, the much-loved event has become something of a Brisbane institution. This year’s edition is serving up its largest menu ever, with a whopping 188 dishes and drinks available across 53 restaurants and vendors. That’s more food than the event has ever offered before, which means you’ll want to arrive with a game plan and stretchy pants.
One of the biggest drawcards remains the price tag. Entry is completely free, and there are 37 menu items available for just $2, including 25 food dishes. In an era when a takeaway coffee can set you back more than a fiver, that alone feels worthy of celebration.
Part of the fun is wandering between venues and discovering something unexpected. One minute you’re biting into a fluffy BBQ pork bun, the next you’re eyeing off sizzling skewers, fresh sushi, Taiwanese street snacks or a cup of perfectly chewy bubble tea. The trail showcases the incredible diversity of Sunnybank’s dining scene, with Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Taiwanese and Hong Kong-inspired eats all represented.

There are also plenty of newcomers joining the party this year. A3 Tea, French & Mor, Iki Sushi, Mr Tall Pork Noodle, Sayram, Sunrise BBQ Butcher and Sushi Hub are among the fresh faces making their Food Trail debut, adding even more temptation to an already stacked line-up.
Of course, this isn’t just about eating your way around Sunnybank, although that’s certainly a very worthwhile pursuit. Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, lion dancers will weave through the precinct at 2pm and again at 6pm, bringing bursts of energy and tradition to the celebrations. Live music and dedicated kids’ zones will add to the festival atmosphere, making it an easy pick for families, friend groups and anyone looking for an excuse to spend a winter afternoon outdoors.

As if all that food wasn’t enough incentive, one lucky attendee will also have the chance to win a holiday to Japan worth more than $8,000. Thanks to a partnership between Experience Sunnybank and EVA Air, the prize includes return flights for two to Japan with a stopover in Taipei, a $2,000 travel voucher and two tickets to a Sunnybank Food Discovery Tour.
The full menu and trail map are already live, which means the serious business of plotting your eating route can begin immediately. With more vendors, more dishes and more bargain bites than ever before, this year’s Sunnybank Food Trail is looking very likely to break a few personal bests.
