From a beauty brand that embraces being vulgar to lip gloss range inspired by your fave morning pick-me-up coffee, this August there are so many beauty buys we can’t wait to get our makeup-obsessed hands on.
Too Faced Peaches and Cream collection, from $44
Aussies have had to wait for what feels like AGES to get our eager mitts on this range, despite it being available to US beauty lovers FOREVER. (OK not really forever, but damn, Too Faced, get your Australian act together!) But now it’s here! Featuring everything from foundation, to bronzer and highlighter, to kick-ass eyeshadow palettes in mattes and metallics, you’re going to want a bite of this juicy peach. Available from Mecca.
Rae Morris Invisible Mattifier, $80
What is this beauty sorcery?! If you look at the packaging for Rae Morris’s new supposedly magical mattifying powder, it pretty much looks like see-through product in a completely see-through container. And yet it’s said to make pores and face sheen disappear. Invisible products that make pores invisible? Yes please. This is definitely a product to watch, it’s already got loads of hype. Available from Mecca Cosmetica.
LUSH Father’s Day Range, from $6.95
Father’s Day is fast approaching and men need good skincare products too (even if they don’t know it!). This month LUSH’s range for dads hits shelves and it has awesome products such as their Moustachio soap, Modfather bubble bar and even though we don’t love the name being that it’s a product for our dad, the Naked Shower Gel sounds pretty awesome. It has a menthol crystal and spearmint oil refreshing zing while washing, along with a touch of sea salt. Not to mention, the Naked range has double the concentration of liquid shower gels, meaning double the lather. Available from LUSH.
BITE Beauty Limited Edition French Press Lip Gloss, $36
I was lucky enough to try the whole collection of these new BITE beauties and they are lush. Inspired by everyone’s favourite perky best friend coffee, these serve an “indulgently creamy shine in warm java hues”. Think nudes that are both bold and neutral at the same time. I don’t know how to explain them but you’ll get addicted to them and they’re brewtiful (see what I did there? Huh? Huh? OK I’ll show myself out.) Available from Sephora.
Beautyblender Instaclean, $24 and Blender Defender $18
Got a Beautyblender that’s looking a bit feral? I know I don’t wash mine nearly as often as I should and it often gets makeup grit on it from hanging around my bag. Well both these problems are now solved with the introduction of the new Blender Defender case and the Instaclean spray. Made from silicone, the new case is antimicrobial and it’s full of holes for aeration, perfect for a sponge that’s meant to be used wet and needs time to dry. Better still, you can fit two moist (sorry not sorry) Blenders in there, protecting them from all your gross bag detritus at the same time as letting them dry out. Then when you need to clean them, just whip out your Instaclean spray! Excellent for lazy makeup girls (me) this spray allows you to clean on the go and ensure your Beautyblenders or brushes are ready for their next product quick smart. It’s like dry shampoo, but for brushes and sponges! Available from Sephora.
Natio Luminous Cushion Blusher, $15.95
If you haven’t heard of cushion applicators in cosmetics, where have you been?! The cushion dispenses the perfect amount of product, evenly dispersed, making it super easy to keep a handle on how much you apply every time. This Natio offering is limited edition, so you’re gonna want to get on it ASAP. Long lasting and blendable, this smooth as silk pigment melts into skin for that naturally blushing look. It also has lots of goodies in it to make your skin all moisturised and gorgeous, including antioxidant green tea and vitamin E. Available in Priceline and select pharmacies.
OPI Peru Collection – Infinite Shine $22.95
As a polish obsessive, I always get a little too excited to see what the next OPI colour collection is going to be all about. Apart from sporting colour-popping shades in a few different finishes and formulas, they always manage to get their punny shade names on the right side of cheesy. For example, the new Peru collection has a boho, natural vibe and features some killer dad-joke level names such as: Machu Peach-u, Somewhere Over the Rainbow Mountains, Suzi Will Quechua Later!, Lima Tell You About This Color!, Alpaca My Bags, and I Love You Just Be-Cusco. Available in select OPI retailers such as Myer and David Jones.
Bobbi Brown Highlight & Glow Shimmer Brick Palette, $140
All of the shimmers! All of the highlights! Much glow! Get your mitts on this limited edition palette with three of their most versatile Shimmer Brick shades that look good on everyone. Yep, everyone. Wear one shade for a subtle glow, or all of them to mix your perfect colour. Super-fine pigments mean this stuff glides on like silk. Shades include Copper Diamond, Rose and Apricot.
Starskin Sheet Masks, from $15
Look for me any Thursday night and you can find me feet up on the couch, with a face mask inelegantly draped over my face (because let’s face it, no one looks elegant in those things). What DOES look elegant is your smooth, clear skin after it’s absorbed all the sheet mask goodies. Dubbed “next generation sheet masks” Starskin’s offerings promise to illuminate, smooth, purify and hydrate with expert formulas created by skincare experts and dermatologists. Look out for the Silkmud Pink French Clay Purifying Liftaway Mud Face Sheet Mask (but don’t try to say it five times fast because that name is LONG). Available from Sephora.
