Tired of going to food festivals and not finding anything sweet? This festival is for you. The Sweet As Dessert Festival is in its second West End iteration, bringing Brisbane the perfect event for those who like to eat the batter before your cupcakes reach the oven.
Previously held in Cleveland, The Sweet As Dessert Festival is now gracing Musgrave Park on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15 for two days of fun, flavour, and food.
For those attending the event, your eyes will be overloaded with sights that will send your stomach into overdrive (the event images are enough to make us hungry). The World Food Market’s event is home to Brisbane’s Best Amateur Cake Decorator Competition and, judging on some of the entries at the last event, this competition will be home to some beautiful creations.
Event vendors will be offering a variety of sugared goods ranging from cakes, custard tarts, coffees, doughnuts, ice creams, ice blocks and everything in between (don’t mind us, we’ll just be eating our weight in waffles).
The festival will showcase live music, entertainment, and food eating competitions as well as activities for the kids to enjoy. Looking to learn some tips from the vendors and try your hand at their recipes? There will be live cooking demonstrations to provide you with pointers about how to make the best desserts. The event is open from 10am until 5pm each day so make sure you pack your picnic blanket or favourite rug for a day of relaxing and treating yourself (you deserve it).
But wait, savoury lovers, don’t fear! There are plenty of options for you as well. Sate House Catering’s Malaysia potato and veg curries sound particularly appetising and they offer assorted vegan options for your taste buds. Those with dietary requirements will also have options so if your lactose-free, gluten-free and nut-free, so you’re in luck.
We say let us eat cake and you should too! We’ll definitely be circling this event on our calendar as one not to miss.
