If you’ve read any of my other stories on my hair (or seen pretty much any of my selfies) you know that I have a lot of hair. Like A LOT. And sometimes that hair is pretty hard to tame and keep looking shiny. So when I heard of a service called Shinefinity Zero Lift Hair Glaze, from Wella Professionals, I thought, “Well THAT sounds like something I definitely need to try.” So I popped on down to The Disco, a chic salon in Brisbane’s Stones Corner to get ma hair did.

What is Shinefinity Zero Lift Hair Glaze?

Wella Professionals Shinefinity is an in-salon service that bills itself as “a zero lift colour glaze that surpasses existing glossing services on the market”. It’s about giving your hair a natural shine and tint, without causing any damage.

Or, as the fabulous Cam, my colourist tells me: “If traditional hair dye is like lipstick, Shinefinity is lip gloss.” GENIUS, I love it and instantly understand.

Now, onto the formula. Featuring a clean formula, with no ammonia, silicones, drying alcohols, animal-derived ingredients or parabens, combined with a unique balanced pH technology, Shinefinity is available in 32 shades including a clear glaze.

Expect glassy hair in just 20 minutes with a shine that will last up to 20 washes.

My Wella Shinefinity experience

I rock up at The Disco Salon at Stones Corner and I can already tell this place is stylish as hell. If I had an insta boyfriend here with me, I would have him film me walking down the corridor at the front, doing a cheeky little twirl and coy look over my shoulder. (Don’t pretend you don’t know the one).

So minimalist, so chic at The Disco.

I meet Cam, colourist extraordinaire, who will be taking care of me today. We have a chat about my hair goals and set up a game plan. See, I recently had my hair lightened from bottle black back to my natural brunette and, while PERFECT back then, it’s since gone a little brassy as the colour wore off. (It’s been months, and I’ve been too busy and blah blah insert more excuses here.)

We decide we’d love to cool it down a little, with the red tones still peeking through. Like a kind of cool mahogany, with definitely no brassiness.

We start off with a shampoo and then the application of the gloss.

Then it’s processing time. Send a few texts, answer a few emails… It feels like in no time at all, the Shinefinity treatment is ready to be rinsed out.

One shampoo (and one heck of an incredible head massage) later and it’s time for my blowdry and style.

Honestly the whole thing was a breeze.

The verdict

Midway through my blow wave, Cam tells me to feel how smooth my hair is and WOW. My hair is so silky I could wear it as a luxury sleep mask. We put a bit of volume back (because I just can’t with straight hair and well…

It’s my job to use my words but these pics say more than I ever could.

This gal went from BRASSY to CLASSY.

So far, two weeks later, I am noticing the shine and a whole lot less frizz working together to tame my tresses.

So if you’re looking for a colour tint that’s not quite as heavy as a full colour, that adds shine and glow to your mane then I definitely recommend Wella Shinefinity Zero Lift Hair Glaze. It’s the lipgloss of colour you’ve been waiting for.
