Recently opened within The Emporium precinct at Fortitude Valley is a new dimly lit spot to discover. Experience a taste of Tel Aviv’s vibrant nightlife at Kazba.

It’s not hard to imagine that you have travelled to the colonial backdrop of the Middle East, with a menu that is inspired by the boulevards of Tel Aviv using house-made Middle Eastern cordials derived from the region’s produce.

The drinks menu by Jared Thibault, is truly exciting. Kick the evening off with Fizzy Bubbly: a nostalgic mixture of soda water and sweet fruit syrup served in electric colours, using Israeli ingredients such as persimmon or plum cordial, carbonated with orange blossom gin and pomegranate pampero blanco.

The drinks are all a bit theatrical, with an entire section of the drinks menu dedicated to “Up in Smoke”. Try the Tel Aviv Sazerac with an applewood smoke blend of arrack musar, za’atar rye, peychaud bitters, demerara, lemon zest.

The Sun also Rises, named after the famous novel by Hemingway, is a delightful twist on a Hemingway Daiquiri; served from a flask hiding in a novel, poured like a classic martini.

The vibes in a bar are never complete without music, and Kazba has local DJs who specialise in vinyl sounds every Friday and Saturday, with strong Arabic rhythms on heavy rotation.

The humble bar food served pays homage to street food, using charcoal and woodfire to create tantalising late-night vegetarian eats by Executive Chef Roy Ner. Let your taste buds sample the fried sesame falafel with tahini & amba pickles or maybe try some chilli halloumi savoury doughnuts with pomegranate & chilli jam.
