What’s better than giving your mum a gift she loves? Buying it locally! Now more than ever, it is so important to shop small and support your local makers, and mothers day is the perfect excuse to do just that. Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Queensland as a whole are full of talented makers, from pottery to macrame to candles. So here is Embrace Brisbane’s guide to shopping local for your mum.

Knot Tasha

Natasha makes beautiful macrame hanging pieces, spun yarn, woven art, and custom macrame earrings from her home in the Gold Coast. She uses coastal colours like sage, mustard, peach, and cream, making her pieces the perfect addition to a calm and serene space.

Mari Bray

Mari is Japanese Brazilian and creates beautiful ceramics in her Tallebudgera studio on the Gold Coast. She is known for her Moringa pieces, which are ceramic water vessels with the cup as the lid. Traditionally in Brazil, the Moringa is placed beside the bed to drink water at night. She paints each Moringa with scenes inspired by Brazilian icons such as the Amazon, Carnavale, and Yemanja the queen of the sea.
