Located above Woolloongabba’s Cést Bon Restaurant on Stanley Street, this newly created rooftop oasis is perfectly positioned to take in sweeping views of Brisbane while you sip your cocktails and dine on luxurious French bar snacks.
This newly created French-inspired urban oasis is the design of JDA Co, a small studio-based Brisbane practice that specialises in complex projects within Australia and overseas. The rooftop addition to Cést Bon was carefully designed under strict Heritage laws, says director James Davidson. “We designed the structure to maintain character and form but brought in the new elements to give the space a new lease on life, while making sure it could co-exist amongst the existing elements and not obscuring the original 1900s facade. We positioned the bar to the east to provide a beautiful bird’s eye view over Mater Hill and The Gabba. It’s a gorgeous spot that pays tribute to the building’s history but starts a new story for it. We’re so proud to be a part of its new chapter,” added Davidson.

With a delay in opening due to COVID lockdowns, Executive Chef and Owner Andy Ashby couldn’t be more eager to offer Brisbane an irresistibly French venue. “We are so excited to have a multi-level venue that has the ability to transport diners away to the setting that they choose and offer experiences that will only be elevated with our carefully curated menus and cellar selections,” says Ashby. Featured on the rooftop menu are a luxurious bar menu including a selection of caviar spanning across the Siberian and Oscietra varieties. Seafood lovers can select from Appellation oysters, a Blini Caviar set with Potato Rye Blinis, Creme Fraiche and Roe, Fraser Island Crab with Mornay, Espelette and Tarragon or Mussels with Mouclade, Chives and Bottarga. If seafood is not your thing don’t worry, the distinctly contemporary French menu offers other stand out bites like Angus Tartare with tomato, cured yolk and tendon. Or a must-try is the Duck Liver Parfait Éclair; and you can’t go past the Confit Pig Suckling Terrine with rhubarb, celeriac and dill pickles. Bon Appetit!

Open from 3 pm Friday to Sunday, now Brisbanites can Salut to their weekend enjoying one of the signature cocktails Ooh La La has on offer. Maybe you’ll be transported to Montmartre while sipping the sophisticated ‘La Gazelle’ which has rum, passionfruit and falernum. Or take a trip to ‘Saint-Germain-es-Pres’ with gin, cucumber and elderflower. The wine list includes both French and locally selected wines that are sure to impress even the most French wine connoisseurs.
