Rodgers + Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA is the Tony Award ® winning Broadway musical from the creators of The Sound of Music that delighted Broadway audiences with its surprisingly contemporary take on the classic tale.
It has now arrived at QPAC in Brisbane, starring Shubshri Kandiah as Ella (Cinderella), Ainsley Melham as the charming Prince Topher; Silvie Paladino as the Fairy Godmother, Marie; and Nicholas Hammond as Sebastian, Prince Topher’s Lord Chancellor.
This musical is a contemporary retelling of the traditional fairytale, remaining consistent to the story everyone knows, while weaving in more current themes and jokes.
Cinderella features amazing performances by a very talented cast, jaw-dropping ‘did I just actually see that happen’ transformations with the classic tale you know with all of the familiar fairytale moments—the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball. The costumes are stunning, as is the marvellous set design.
Cinderella is a great musical to take the kids to, or even if you don’t have children to tag along you will still have an enjoyable evening and a wonderful excuse to get dressed up and remember a time when you believed in fairytales, magic and wonder.
This musical was delighful, and well deserving of the thunderous applause and standing ovation it received at the end.
