Jane Austen‘s Pride and Prejudice is a timeless classic that is definitely worth revisiting this winter. It is a truth universally acknowledged that there is nothing better than sitting down with a hot cup of tea and reading about the feisty Elizabeth Bennet and the enigmatic Mr. Darcy. However, if you would prefer a more modern work of romantic literature, look no further than Sofia Khan is Not Obliged by Ayisha Malik. It is a funny and quirky story of a young Muslim woman’s forays into dating and navigating the world around her.

My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier, is of the most thrilling and engaging stories of the young adult genre. Che Taylor’s psychopathic little sister Rosa hasn’t hurt anybody yet, but it’s only a matter of time until she does. How can he keep the world safe from Rosa? Another incredible and powerful YA novel is We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson. Henry is a boy that is frequently abducted by aliens. The aliens inform Henry that they plan to destroy the world within the next thirty days. They offer Henry a button that will stop the world from being destroyed, but he isn’t sure if the world is worth saving. His boyfriend committed suicide with no explanation, he is frequently bullied at school, and his grandmother is rapidly succumbing to Alzheimer’s. Is there anything that can convince Henry that the world is worth saving?

One of the best non-fiction books to read this winter is Zach Klein’s Cabin Porn: Inspiration For Your Quiet Place Somewhere. Cabin Porn is a beautiful anthology of Pinterest-worthy cabins and picturesque landscapes. This will invigorate you with feelings of wanderlust and it might even inspire you to set up your own cosy cabin in the woods. Other popular novels that are worth reading this winter include The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and George Orwell’s 1984, both of which are resurfacing in popularity due to renewed political relevance.
