With a mind that revolves around philosophy and principles, DJ Cosmo Cater remains an intriguing local DJ. Since his first gig working at a Sunshine Coast radio station, the one’s and two’s have become a standard system of his reasoning. Across the years, he has remained in the game long enough to emerge as a stalwart in the dance music industry with a love stemming from classical, electronica, 70s rock and jazz fusion to branch out to hip-hop and 4ZZZ. Cosmo knows how to keep the music spinning and the crowd warm whether is be Toto’s Africa or the latest underground track from Leftfield, while supporting Sasha or Orbital or leading the charge on a Friday afternoon into the weekend.
As a DJ, Cosmo has all the undulation of a musical chameleon. He doesn’t aspire for his name – and such an original name at that – to be in lights, but he does inspire others as a pioneer of the local dance music scene who never compromises on his sound. With a finely tuned taste in great tracks that last the test of time, Cosmo knows how to motivate the dancefloor as a great reader of the crowd with choice song selections, regardless of whether it’s techno or 80s tracks at his fingertips. We sit down with the esteemed local and chat his Top 5 Tracks For After 5.
