Anchor up and join Howard Smith Wharves for a beer festival, Beers on the Lawn, showcasing some of Australia’s finest brewed drinks.

On Saturday, October 19 and 20, the heritage-listed buildings of Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves will invite local breweries to share their goods with taste-makers (that’s you!) alongside their in-house brewing company, Felons Brewing Co.

The free event, which begins at 1pm and finishes at 8pm, takes what was great about their well-known Weekends on the Lawn event and adds an Aussie staple, a refreshing cold beer, to the mix.

The best local beer and cider will be available for patrons to sip whilst overlooking the Brisbane river (that sounds like the life).

For those wanting to see if their favourite Brisbane Brewery is attending, we can reveal that Range Brewing, Helios Brewing Co., Slipstream Brewing Co., Aether Brewing Co., Semi-Pro Brewing Co., Brouhaha Brewing Co., Ballistic Brewing Co., and Soapbox Beer will all showcasing at the festival what Brisbane Breweries can do.

Brisbane’s brewing scene is rising in terms of the quality and so we believe Howard Smith Wharves’ hopes of making this an annual event are right on track.

For those who are looking for something sweeter, a selection of wines and Aperol Spritzes will also be available for you to enjoy.

Despite the beer, it will be a family-friendly event with lawn games and live music to get the whole family involved.

Looking for a bite to eat after a cold beer? The festival will feature some food stalls to curb your hunger, with Lawn Classic Burgers, Falafel Burgers and Roti Canai for you to chow on. For fans of chicken there are the Charcoal Grilled Chicken Skewers and for those wanting the full Aussie experience, why not pair your beer with a sausage on bread?

The event is one of several festivals launching at the site that aims to connect the wider Brisbane community with Howard Smith Wharves’ beautiful 1930’s architecture and dining and event facilities. Howard Smith Wharves aims to establish itself as a tourism precinct and with views of towering cliffs and beautiful natural parkland behind the venue, they’ve got our vote.

If you are hoping to spend more time in the Howard Smith Wharves, the precinct houses The Fantauzzo, a 5-star hotel which celebrates local food and drinks for guests and provides comfort for those looking to relax before and after the event.

If you’re ready to join the Beers on the Lawn festival for a guaranteed good time, set sail for Howard Smith Wharves. We can’t wait!
