What inspired you to get into music?
I’ve been playing music since I was about 3 years old, but I guess you could say that I never found that one special path. It’s only recently that I dusted off my drum kit and found a huge passion in writing songs and playing the drums. With my parents’ health declining, it made me realise that I’m truly blessed to have my health, and so I’m going full steam ahead for as long as I am able to.
How do you feel when you are playing the drums?
I feel just so happy. A few people have told me that I look like the muppet, Animal when I play! I’ll take that as a compliment haha. But seriously, it’s totally my happy place when I’m on stage playing the drums.
Your single Let it Go has just been released, and you have an EP Get up and Go coming out soon. What can you tell us about your upcoming EP?
My EP ‘Get up and Go’ is an ode to living your dreams. It’s about courage and freedom. I worked alongside legendary producer, Lindsay Gravina at Birdland Studios, and vocalist, Charlie Lane. I didn’t even have a band together at the time, but we made it work between the three of us. I played drums, percussion, keys and backing vocals, Lindsay played guitar and bass, and Charlie sang. It has a modern 80’s rock/pop sound.
Any plans to come to Brisbane?
I would LOVE to! I’m just planning my next moves, so it’s definitely on the cards to come to Queensland. It’s a beautiful state, and a good excuse to get away from this Melbourne weather 🙂
