Stylist Ryan Cotterill from undress runways has a few things to say about winter fashion – especially for gentlemen.

This winter take cues from the European runway and mix staple pieces with dark styles. The contemporary man challenges traditional winter dressing with textural layers and new shapes, from athletic inspired looks to formal with an alternate aesthetic. With a dark, brooding palette these looks use texture and shape to keep things interesting. Luxury fabrics like leather, superfine organic cotton and heavy silks define a man’s style and last from season to season. Don’t sacrifice style for warmth, invest in key pieces like dark jackets that can be paired with almost any outfit.

RYAN’S TIPS
Pair oversized shorts with leggings for streetwear style that can be dressed up with boots or keep it casual with a monochrome sneaker. Layer it up with tops to stay warm but keep it textural. Industrial-styled accessories are paired with heavy, textured fabric to create a strong masculine vibe. Dress hats can be worn day to night and are the perfect finishing piece to any winter outfit. Looser fit pants are in, from casual street wear to tailored pants. Let the pants make the statement by staying simple on top. Combine long, fitted shirts and textures like leather & wool to create the look of the season.
