There’s been a lot of buzz about feminism lately. What is it? What do feminists stand for? These aren’t easy questions to answer, so we understand if, like us, you’re a little confused. Feminism, to put it simply, is a movement advocating equality. That’s right, not just women’s rights, but human rights.

Feminists of the late 20th century fought relentlessly and made incredible progress in pushing for equality. But recently, it’s become apparent that the move toward equality has slowed its pace. We’ve become complacent at a time when we need to keep working toward positive social change. Society still has a way to go when it comes to achieving equality. For all the feminists out there who want to continue the legacy our empowered sisters left us, but don’t know how to go about doing so, we’re about to hook you up.

The One Woman Project was established in Queensland in 2013, and is now one of Australia’s fastest growing, youth-led organisations. Their goal is to educate young people about gender equality and advocating a positive social change. They provide quality education about global gender equality through their educational seminar series, engagement events, in-school programs, public awareness campaigns, Rural Road Trips and annual festivals. It’s pretty great, right? We were stoked to discover The One Woman Project after years of feeling like there weren’t any groups out there that aligned with our values.

The One Woman Project is always on the lookout for passionate volunteers. They value “enthusiasm over experience, dedication over degrees and real motivation over references”. So, you shouldn’t feel like you don’t have enough knowledge or qualification to join, all you need is an intense desire to promote equal rights. Head over to their websone ite for more info.
