Loofahs have always been a must in my shower, but I’ve always been a little bit grossed out by them. Think about it: they scrub all your dead skin cells away and lather up but then… where do the skin cells go? What dirt is trapped in all those folds and crevices? And do they ever truly dry? Enter the FOREO Luna 4 Body, a device that promises to revolutionise your shower routines and make you say goodbye to your loofahs.

Buh-bye Liz’s manky shower puff with bad shower lighting.

Billed as a “must have shower device” this massaging body brush is a full-body super hygienic spa experience in the palm of your hand. And I am ALL about the idea of a bit of a pamper every time I have to bathe.

The other thing I am really into is the idea of full body exfoliation. Because let’s face it: I don’t moisturise head to toe as often as I should, and sometimes (especially as we come into autumn) my skin can get a little scaly. Then add in the disgusting fact that our skin accumulates more than four kilos of dirt and dead skin cells in a year, and you’re likely to become as obsessed with exfoliation as I am.

Oh hi, new FOREO Luna 4 Body!

So I decided to give the FOREO Luna 4 Body a try,  and see if it can keep my skin silky smooth.

(You can check out my other FOREO device reviews here and here)

How does the FOREO Luna 4 Body work?

According to the website, this hockey-puck sized smart device is “clinically proven to remove 99 per cent of dirt and oil from the skin”. Those are some good stats! The body brush is covered in bacteria-resistant silicone bristles on one side, and is powered by T-Sonic pulsations designed to cleanse, soften and smooth the skin to gently exfoliate your body.

Here are the stats:

  • 35x more hygienic than brushes with nylon bristles.
  • Deeply cleanses to reduce breakouts on the body.
  • Improves the appearance of cellulite.
  • Prevents strawberry skin and ingrown hairs.
  • Preps skin to deeply absorb creams and lotions.
  • Features eight intensities
  • Is 100 per cent waterproof, with ergonomic design and flexible brush bristles.

Much bristle. So hygienic. Very pretty.

My FOREO Luna 4 Body experience

When I first unwrap the device, I just think how cute it’s going to look hanging in my shower (I am a Libra so I am all about aesthetics). I chose the lavender colour to go with my lilac FOREO Luna Go and they make a super cute pair.

I charge the device up (each charge gets 300 minutes of use) and get ready to overhaul my shower routine. Once I am in the shower, I choose my setting. There are eight different settings, with a little plus and minus button so you can flip between modes easily.

You can change the intensity depending on how much exfoliating you wanna do.

I choose to add my body wash onto the brush (as I normally would with my loofah), although you can just massage the device over damp skin.

I find it foams up my cleanser a lot better than I was expecting and I am able to get a really good wash going. I will say I need to use slightly more body wash than normal, but I feel like it’s doing a better job. Plus the bristles are super soft, so I know they’re getting the job done without being abrasive.

The verdict

I am a big fan of this whole new way of showering. The massaging effect makes it feel like a spa experience and my skin feels so silky smooth afterwards.

I suffer from a bit of keratosis pilaris (bumpy skin) on the back of my arms and I definitely felt like it was smoother by the end of my trial time using the Luna Body.

Another big plus: it worked to get my fake tan off faster than anything else I’ve tried!

Sure, it’s a pricey device, but if you suffer from dry or bumpy skin, or have blocked pores anywhere on your body it’s worth it. Or if you just love a bit of a pamper, because using the Luna Body feels LUXE and definitely elevates your shower routine.

Plus it gives you an excuse to ditch that germy shower loofah and upgrade to a cleaner way to shower.
