The celebration of birthdays and the giving of gifts began with presents serving as good wishes or symbols to ward off evil spirits. And as MyCityLife celebrates its first birthday, we wanted to give a gift to the City we love. And so the MyCityLife Magazine was born.
It is humbling to see how much MyCityLife has grown across the last 12 months. What first started as a vision with two people, expanded beyond the MCL Offices at 663 Stanley Street to Brisbane and finally the Gold Coast. And it doesn’t stop there. 5,500 likes on Facebook, 1,100 Instagram followers and 9,000 subscribers later, our evolution comes full circle, expanding from digital into our first print magazine. We are thrilled to deliver a seasonal publication that celebrates experiences of the city through stories that leave lasting impressions. And we wanted to leave lasting impressions and thoroughly celebrate these milestones with the party to end all parties.
Guests gathered at Elixir Rooftop Bar for The MyCityLife Evolution with an evening of canapés and Chandon champagne while overlooking the concrete jungle of The Valley. We get The Scoop on Elixir Rooftop Bar here, revealing it as Brisbane’s biggest Hidden Secret. After this particular night, Elixir is a secret no more.
While it was a casual garden affair, there was a corporate feel, thanks to the service of the Elixir team. The food was plentiful and flavoursome, Chef making sure the crowd was well fed all night long with Elixir’s signature tapas and canapés. Ken Sattler and his team kept the service to a premium – nothing went amiss from behind the bar or front of house. Event specialists Staging Dimensions were also onboard to keep the event looking smooth – particularly with 2 x 60inch screens setup for the evening’s visual antics. JayJayLive showcased his magic talents to an attentive crowd, also demonstrating exactly how clever his fingers are at pickpocketing. In fact, his talents are so renown, you may have seen him on Channel 7 earlier this week:
Completing the atmosphere of this rooftop garden party, DJ Tom. and Sundae Australia’s DJ Chantal unleashed the seductive house tunes alongside stunning garden creatures Strut n Fret for this unique Midsummer’s Night Dream.
It was a night to shine the spotlight on the achievements of our local people, events and businesses. And shine we did. The cover photo was unveiled to guests with a behind-the-scenes look capturing all the action
The print magazine features Pip Russell, launching Juiced TV as a network for kids, by kids. Enjoy Summer Living with the MyCityLife’s Guide to Eat | Drink | Lifestyle. See how Brisbane Heat are firing it up in the hot months of cricket ahead. Use our pull-out Event Guide to see WhatsOn all summer long. We ask Linda Prescott from Ideal Introductions if we are too connected with Love In The City. We head south to The GC for the growing global journey of Surfing The Dream with Surf / Brand. And we explore a very Soleil Summer with Jules & Roc, featuring the gorgeous Charlotte Morton, styled by Josh K Kilroy and captured from the lens of dirty love photography by the lush poolside of Soleil Pool Bar at Bacchus South Bank.
Expect the MyCityLife Magazine #01 Summer Edition to be reaching mailboxes from Hamilton to Toowong, Bulimba to Paddington, Brisbane; Broadbeach to Mermaid Beach Gold Coast, cafes, salons, receptions and waiting rooms near you.
What MyCityLife has always known is that the essence of a city comes down to the people. We are what make it unique. And what MyCityLife Magazine aims, is to present the gifts we as a city, truly are.
