The Laneway – a hidden gem over-looking Spencer Lane in the Brisbane CBD – is launching a new gourmet food and cocktail menu from Thursday. Taking six months to curate, The Laneway’s new menu will showcase the best of international cocktail theatrics as seen from the streets of New York. Think Queen of the Night or Clover Club, Cobble Hill.
The Laneway’s new menu sees accompanying seasonal bar food, made with the best locally sourced fresh produce. From old favourite bar snacks like fried calamari served with lemon and aioli to Jamon croquettes, these tasty nibbles are all on offer for a guilt-free price of under $10. Key staples for Laneway includes a selection of burgers with essentials like the Wagyu Beef Burger, Chicken Schnitzel Burger, the classic Veggie Burger or their Bangalow Pork Burger with chipotle, slaw and apple salad. The new menu also offers a selection of light meal options such as tagliatelle with swiss brown mushroom and parmesan or a chicken liver parfait, on toasted brioche, hazelnut crumb embellished with fresh herbs from the garden.
But it is the new drinks menu that really stands out, with promises of theatrics and flare and your drink served up within three minutes of ordering. An extensive selection of cocktails ranging from carbonated cocktail, contemporary cocktail and house specialty cocktails and Laneway’s Signature Serves are on the list, including their Ginception:a mix of Tanqueray 10, stirred down with passion fruit syrup, grapefruit bitters, and citrus oils and served in a hollowed Peychards bitter infused ice sphere, – accompanied with an ice-cracking device for your convenience. The new menu also includes exclusive barrel-aged cocktails where Bombay Sapphire, St Germaine and Dubbonet are aged for 4 months in oak and served straight up with rhubarb bitters and orange oils; the deadly cocktail concoction so named The Lady Killer. The launch will also showcase a gin and tea-based cocktail, accompanied with liquid nitrogen smog from your own teapot and popcorn-flavoured rum Cuba Libre matched with fresh popcorn from the vintage popcorn machine. With head bartender, Matthew Fearnley leading the team behind the bar, Laneway is definitely bringing spirits to the stage, and we can expect plenty of exhibitionism with a menu offering sensations for all the senses.
